Saturday

What happened next.....

Early in the week I posted about my adventures in the ombré hair world.

As I mentioned I didn't stop at the typical brown to blonde/ginger locks that I pictured at the end of that post.

Here is my hair as of today...

It turned my ends dark pink.

I did this by using my old favourite Dark Tulip from Directions

I love it so much.

I miss having my pink hair but for up keep and professional reasons a full head isn't really practical so this satisfies my cravings while balancing the real world nicely.

Tomorrow night is my work night out, so I'm not sure I'll be getting a post up :-( I've never been very good with the whole scheduling thing on blogger.

It's an evening that could go either way in terms of it being brilliant or dire. And there's one person in particular that I'm really a bit worried about seeing while the drinks are flowing....

If your reading this on Saturday evening please send me some words of encouragement/your best chat up lines ;-) on twitter.

I'll let you know how it goes,x

Thursday

A cozy night in (with bargain pizza)

It's December I've done the vast majority of my Christmas shopping and its cold outside.

Essentially I'm skint and with the exception of my 241 trip to the cinema last night I'm allowed 2 nights out this month, my work night out and my friends birthday.

So what's my plan for the rest of the time?

Thankfully my friends have cozy houses and well stocked fridges ;-)

Tonight though I'm looking forward to a well deserved day off tomorrow and I'm getting cozy watching The Santa Clause (again!)

Since tonight is technically my Friday night I thought I'd have some pizza. Yeah, this fat girl won't be slim anytime soon...

But my current cash flow status won't stretch to a dominos, even with the 50% off that the repeatedly told me about today.

Happily though I've discovered the hidden gem that is Morrisons frozen pizzas.

For the princely sum of £1 they do amazingly good perfectly sized pizzas.

The first one I got was a couple of weeks ago, Chicken Fajita. I didn't hold out much hope but it was great, actually had a decent amount of topping and easily surpassed that well known pizza chain in terms of flavour.

So tonight I opted for garlic chicken and it was equally as good.

I mean, it won't win a beauty contest, but it was delicious and cheap. And right now that's what I'm looking for.

Now if they could just work on the whole making them zero calorie........ I digress.....

What's your favourite 'oh dear I'm skint but I'm starving' food?

The Impromptu Haul

I went to see Skyfall tonight.

Well technically I went to see Daniel Craig (although I actually thought Q cute as well)

But before that I had some time to kill.

I bought a couple of bits I thought I'd share....

I got the manicure kit from primark for a bargain opus 2.50, I'm keen to see how this compares to my MUA nail constellation that I posted about previously.

I seem to be having a berry lip phase at the moment so when I wandered into Superdrug, just to keep out of the cold of course ;-), I picked up a couple of revlon treats. The Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie and the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush.

I blame to cold weather for these purchases. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Tuesday

That was the day that was...

Tonight my dears this blogmas post will be short.

I've had the day from hell and I am getting comfy in a slightly saggy couch in a bar as we speak.

So tonight's question is....

What are you having?

In my case I'm having a watermelon martini.

It's got fruit on the glass so I'm classifying it as one of my 5 a day ;-)

Until tomorrow my dears, CHEERS!

Monday

L'oreal Preference Wild Ombré

Finally a beauty post, hurrah!

At the weekend I had a day off (shock horror) so I went for a little wander around boots.

Like everyone else I've seen a million adverts for this new kit from l'oreal. And I've heard quite a lot of varying reports about how well it works and whether it's worth the money. And if it wasn't for the fact I had some points to spend I probably would've left it on the shelf.....

I'm glad I didn't.

I will say I don't think this kit is for everyone, the brush can be fiddley and you really need to set aside a good chunk of time and think be quite patient. Maybe not best for novice hair colour users. Also the colour your going to get will vary A LOT depending on what your working over.

My hair was already covered with dark brown dye, but I'd previously bleached it in September (so I could have my hair purple for my birthday) so I wasn't dealing with too much dye build up but I still expected a ginger hue rather than golden blonde.

Some people have reported the smell of this stuff to be hideous, and while I won't say it's nice it just smells like hair dye to me..

I fully expected this stuff to not do all that much, and for the first ten minutes it didn't. I was a bit disappointed but I persevered. Now in the application instructions it does say to start at the tips and work up thought the lengths. In a few reviews I've read I've seen pics of folk left with a harsh line between their base colour and the lightened ends. This is my advice,

WORK SLOWLY and if you think your going slow GO SLOWER!!!

I put the stuff on the very ends of my hair maybe an inch at the most. And left it a good ten minutes before coming back to do the next inch, and I repeated this until I got to my desired level and I left last 'layer' on for only about 5 mins before I washed it out.

Here is my after, please excuse the no makeup and horrible artificial lighting but the sun doesn't shine at 3am...

I'm actually really quite pleased with how it came out, it's slightly less ginger in real life but I think the gradual-ness of the colour change worked out pretty well. Well, as well as a non professional using an 'at home' box kit can expect.

I would've taken a daytime shot but lets just say I didn't stop here ;-)

Do follow (links in the sidebar) to see what happened next!

If you have any questions please do feel free to ask either on here or twitter.

Have you tried this product? What did you think?

Or is the ombré hair thing just a bit too cliche? :-)

Sunday

Oh Christmas tree

Right now I'm having my annual 'put up the tree and watch Scrooged evening'

It's blissful.

Here is my tree....

It may look slightly crazy but there's just so much love in it it makes me smile every time I see it.

My parents bought me it along with the star and the basic silver baubles the first year I moved into my own place, and every year I pull it out and love putting on those same baubles and all the other ornaments I've gathered through friends and family or on my travels. Every single thing has meaning.

I just can't get how some people shell out a fortune every year for a pre decorated colour coordinated thing. But I suppose each to their own!...

What's your tree like?

Or if your not of the christmas persuasion is there another holiday that your looking forward to?

P.S. When I grow up I want to be the Ghost of Christmas Present!

Saturday

Merry Blogmas!

Now first off is Blogmas one S or two?

Answers on a postcard.

I won't make promises on this as I work in retail and have been known to come in from work and immediately hide under my duvet (while still wearing my coat) due to the utter craziness that is work. But I feel I have been quite rubbish of late on the old blog front so I'd like to get a little more back on track.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Christmas.

I love all the obvious fun stuff like parties, Starbucks red cups, giving people I love presents and eating so much I might explode.

But I do have a couple of things that I'm really not so keen on like being so skint from buying presents that I'm drinking tap water at the work Christmas party, waiting on the bus in a complete blizzard and the inevitable awkward trip to see some relatives you only ever see once a year.

And don't even start me on having to perpetually answer the age old question "so have you found yourself a nice young man yet?" (which reminds me I really should pick up some mistletoe.....)

But most of the time I'll be that annoying one running around singing along to Mariah Carey and making everyone eat mince pies.

Are you a holiday lover or are you a bit of a Scrooge?

On a completely unrelated note does anyone else find Brad Pitt totally cringe-worthy in that Chanel advert?

Monday

The apt polish (OPI Not like the movies) NOTD

Hey, long time no see!

Feels like forever since I've blogged.

But life just got a bit in the way.

Today's post is inspired by the random way my brain works.

It was Sunday afternoon that I realised I'm prone to a bit of apt polishing. What I mean is if I have a polish that somehow fits my mood I'll tend to reach for that one.

Like using my private jet before boarding a plane, or breaking out beach party for a trip to the beach, or last years favourite for me which was the minute it snows covering any and all manicures with a layer of snow globe.

This time it is Not like the movies from OPIs Katy Perry collection. This is by far and away my favourite polish ever in the world. All the pretty shades of purple silver and green and shimmer. There is really nothing to not like about it.

However......

This found its way onto my digits as recently as sadly I'm currently more than a little disillusioned on the old romance front. There's a guy, I like him, he's very sweet to me. I can't decide whether I'm coming or going. Guys can be so dumb sometimes........le sigh.

Do you ever apt-polish? If so what are you wearing now?

Wednesday

Boo!!! and Spooktacular Tag

Happy Halloween!!

This is what adorned my  nails today, the Red is Ruby Pumps from China Glaze (you know winter is here when you break out that one!) the white is White on White also from China Glaze and the little ghosty is a water decal from ebay.

I was tagged by the lovely Clare over at http://makeroomforcupcake.blogspot.co.uk/  to do th Spooktacular TAG that's kicking about right now.

And i do love a good TAG :-)

as without further ado I'll crack on:

1. Do you still Trick or Treat?

Not in the traditional sense but in a more grownup sense I'd have to say it depends on the company ;-)

2. Do you like going to haunted attractions?

Yes but preferably with a cute guy to keep me safe.

3. Favorite Halloween Candy?

Popping Candy, we had some at work today it was immense!!

4. Favorite Halloween Movie?

The more I thought about this the more i realised i freaking love Ghostbusters :-)

5. Favorite Scary Movie?

I'm a complete scaredy cat when it comes to these things, but i did quite like the scream films, do they count as scary movies?

6. Favorite costume you ever wore as a child?

Nothing particularly sticks in my mind. I think i must've loved being a witch because the majority of my Halloween memories seem to be when i was dressed like that.

7. First costume you can remember wearing?

Probably again the witch, I had the coolest hat.

8. Favorite Fall Food and Beverage?

Definitely a nice cup of spiced tea and a gingerbread man

9. Do you have a festive background on your phone?

I did but then my phone got wiped so not right now :-(

10. Do you have a festive background on your phone?

You can see what my outfit was HERE

11. What would Pinecone be?

I have a goldfish called Cup. He doesn't dress up.

12. What candy do you have left in your stash after you eat everything else?

Anything green and gummy, ewww!

13. Do you decorate your house?

I do a pumpkin, normally. This year i do actually have a pumpkin, but it didn't get round to carving it :-(

14. Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes, or Hayrides?

Here in Scotland we don't really have these things but I'd defiantly give a haunted hayride a go!

15. Going to a Corn Maze, what do you wear?

Bikini and flip flops?
I don't quite get this question, its cold outside,  wouldn't everyone wrap up warm and put your coat on?

And that is the end of Blogtober!

Can't quite believe I've finished it, and that I've found something to talk about every day!

I'm not sure I'll blog every day in November, but i can think of quite a lot of things i want to blog about already.

Due to a huge rash on my face (Good thing its Halloween!) my review on the Real Techniques Brush i bought is slightly delayed but as soon as i stop scaring small children I'll be right on it.

And the Olia hair colour review should be up by Sunday.

So make sure you subscribe for them.

I hope you had a very Happy Halloween, if you've done the Spooktacular tag be sure to comment below!

(No i don't know whats going on with my font here. I think blogger is freaking out or something!)

Tuesday

All change!!

So yet again i find myself with a work related NOTD.

But hopefully this will be the last one, for a while at least.....

Due to the multi-coloured nature of my new environment I'm doing a double hander.

The 'Aqua' is Fly from OPI

The Yellow is Rimmel Lemon Drop

The Orange is the one I used in this POST

And the Magenta I used in this POST

In other news I managed to burn my face with my straighteners today.

Tomorrows post will be spooktacular ;-)
Do make sure you subscribe to find out why!

Monday

Fat Girl Slim Week 3 Update

So this week has been traumatic. There's no getting round the stress that's happening right now.

I'm just off another 12 hour shift at work. But at least tomorrow I'll get to shine there (loooooong story)

So on with the update, the last thing i though about this week was healthy eating. Between work and the none work stuff I've just been stuffing things in as and when i remember. You'd think that would help with weight loss but instead when i have eaten its been bags of marshmallows and Big Macs.

At least the scales say I've stayed the same.....

Should really probably buy new batteries for it though......

But with things looking on the up at both the work and personal fronts, and the fact i have a huge event to attend at the end of next month (and a dress for it that wont do up) I'm determined to achieve my goals on this.

Oooooo Cocktails......

P.S Don't ever eat cheese on toast then immediately attempt the 30 day shred. It does not end well.

Sunday

Googly Eyes NOTD

Just a quick post again today, I've had such a hectic weekend what with the party last night and the resulting revelation that has actually confused the heck out of me.....

Todays nails we're going to be something else altogether but i wanted googly eye nails. So that's what we've got 8-)

I used China glaze liquid leather for the black, White on White for the , erm, white and my eyeliner for the eyes.

This is not going down as my neatest manicure ever (yes that is remnants of Frankenstein on pointy) but i was really quite hungover* so it was the best the shakes would allow.

*I am not a good role model. Please drink responsibly!

Saturday

Onesie Party OOTN

Just a quick post today as I'm off out for the evening.

Instead of the traditional Halloween party my friend its having a onesie party.

Here I am in my sexy onesie ready to go.

Oh dear, just realised, I'm about to leave the house wearing a onesie!

What are you dressing up as this Halloween?

(this onesie was £25 HERE )

Friday

Frankenstein Nails

I was having a browse on YouTube for some ideas for Halloween nail art and i came across THIS VIDEO by missjenfabulous. I really like her simple designs that even a nail art newbie like myself can follow.

I fell in love with the Frankenstein nails, as they are a nice change from the usual pumpkin effort i do at this time of year. There may be a couple of NOTD designs over the next couple of days as i do love a good themed manicure.

I didn't have a good shade of green for the Frankenstein design so it was also a good excuse to feed my polish addiction. I picked up BeautyUK Sage Green in a haul i did yesterday.

In Jens version she used dotting tools and nail art pen to do the art bits but i saw a post recently (sorry I'm not sure who it was) where the person used an eyeliner for the drawing part which is what i had to hand today.

I've never used a BeautyUK polish before and i found this one surprisingly nice. Opaque in 2 coats, possibly could have got away with one even.

Using the eyeliner i drew on faces and stitches and did some googly eyes with white polish to bring him to life.

Finally I did a coat Seche Vite to make it nice and shiny.

Some sort of topcoat is really important if your using eyeliner for the art, or it'll just turn into a blurry mess when you wash your hands.

Have you done any Halloween nail art? If so let me know in the comments and make sure you subscribe for a couple more spooky designs coming between now and the 31st!

(I apologize for my hideous cuticles here, I've been a bit lax on the the old glove wearing, and well its so cold that it snowed a bit today!)

Thursday

Payday Haul!

Here i am! Not lost at all...I'm just in from my little payday splurge and i thought I'd share the spoils with you all.

I didn't really mean to buy as much as this but I've been working extra hard lately so i deserved a wee treat.

I'll break it down. If you'd like to see and reviews on this stuff let me know :-)

Internationale had 3for2 on beauty UK so i got
L-R : Girl gone wild, Sage green, Coral Shimmer
And i picked up the Miracle Cure in Boots as my nails are really dying right now :-(

What can i say about this other than my hair needs done.
Never tried this before but it came in a big box so it must be good. (yes i know I'm weird!)

I'm having a bit of a food smells thing at the moment. The Burts Bees hand cream smells like foam bananas, Score! and the Jergens smells like Cherry Bakewells, double Score!. And i cant walk into one of those American Candy places without buying Cupcake Bites. Twizzlers are great to use as straws for water and i needed new mints for my bag and i like Altoids.

I got the Real Techniques Expert Face brush on recommendation from the #bbloggers chat.
I picked up a bottle of PhotoReady as I really like it so i was curious to try it with the brush.
And i wanted new perfume. Cant afford my Victor and Rolf Flower bomb.
Handily this one from Zara smells exactly the same, Happy Days!

The last 2 were complete spur of the moment grabs. The bat jumper spoke to me from the Internationale window and it was only a tenner, then when i was inside everything was buy one get one half price so i picked up the cute bag.

So that's my payday haul.
I would like to point out that i don't shop like this all the time, I'm not rolling in the pennies. But i do work hard for the money i get.

Hmmmm.... I'm going of on a tangent there, leave a comment below if you'd like a review on anything and make sure you subscribe to be updated when it goes up.

Right, I'm off for my dinner,x

Wednesday

Tuesday

In with the new....

So i started a new job yesterday and, much like Saturdays post, it seemed only fit to do a manicure for the occasion.

As i mentioned i haven't left the company but its certainly time for a colour change....

Enter the era of pink (or as my work would call it 'Magenta')

The main colour is Barry M Shocking Pink and the accent nail is W7 cerise Pink

I've found the whole change exciting and terrifying all at once.

And i didn't help when my alarm didn't go off on my first day, I woke up 10 minutes before my shift start on the other side of town. It was horrific. Then my new boss decided, after an hour, that he was taking the rest of the day off and left me in charge......

I'd been at my old work for a very long time so I'm very much a fish out of water at the moment. I'm hoping it'll get easier soon, but there is some big changes still to come....

So I've gone from Orange to Pink I wonder what next week will hold ;-)

Monday

Fat Girl Slim Week 2 Update

Another week has gone by and its that scary stand on the scales time again.

I would like to point out that my scales are currently running out of battery (they're digital) so I'm not overly sure how accurate they are just now.

The week started well.

I did the 30 day shred (aka being curled up in the foetal position gasping for breath)

For a few days.

I couldn't move after a few days in, my thighs wouldn't co-operate with the command to move my legs in a walking motion.

So i switched to a bit of yoga (Penny Smith Power Yoga) to try and stretch out a bit.

The warm up almost killed me. I used to do the entirety of this DVD everyday (i was bendy like Geri) so this was really disappointed in this.

I'll confess, i ate A LOT of cake and pizza at the end of the week (while sat on the couch with a hot water bottle). But as a woman, I'm sure you'll understand, sometimes we NEED this.

Despite this the scales were kind and I stayed the same as last week.

So I'm still 2 pounds down 22 to go!

The next couple of weeks are going to be quite stressful for me. I started my new job today and I'm now be getting a bus to work rather than walking so I'm not overly hopeful on the weight loss front.

Lunch is about to get a whole lot healthier!

But i do have better options for things to have for lunch and I'll be powering up my My Fitness Pal App again so hopefully I'll work it out.

Be sure to follow to get my updates straight to your blog feed.x (links in the side bar)

Whats in my Bag...

The whole whats in my bag thing is my favourite thing to ever come out of the interweb. Whether its a You Tube video i just love knowing what folk carry around on a day to day basis.

Now don't go looking at me like i'm a weirdo i know i'm not alone in this. I mean your here reading this ;-)

My favourtite ones to read are the real ones, not the immaculately manicured I've just bought all this stuff today and put it in my shiny new bags, but more the its been a while, I've tipped it over, and this is what i have kind.

That's what this is. Obviously I've spread it out so you can see but this is what was in my bag this morning.

So:

The bag itself is from Primark its roomy enough for all my junk, is nicely structured so it looks smart, and has a nice retro feel.

The brown Umbrella is a 'Little Brown Umbrella' from Macys that i picked up in New York a few years ago. It has a button for making it go up so it is really handy for sudden showers.

Purses; Penelope Pineapple and Mr Panda. I use one for cash and one for cards.

Cuticura Anti-bacterial gel. I picked this up because i'm going to become a proper commuter again and buses are icky (technical term there!) I got this one because it proclaimed to smell nice, it doesn't, again i find myself jealous of people with Bath and Bodyworks near them.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer folding hairbrush. Tissues from Primark.

Plane ticket from going to Birmingham last week. Bus ticket for getting to the new job this week (Scared!)

Fingerless gloves, not pretty but make using my phone easier when its cold.

Notebook and Watermelon pen. I've had the pen a LOOONNG time and it still smells of watermelon :-)

My Blackberry, the marmite of the mobile phone world. I love mine, but i do have a Sony Xperia S as well (used to take the pics on here).

Bunch of sweets, again from the trip to Birmingham.

Random receipts and Boots vouchers

Garnier Intensive 7 days hand cream (meh!)

I don't carry much makeup but i do carry lip stuff. In the mix here are:

Revlon Just bitten Kissable balm stain in Honey
Accessorize in Infatuated
Revlon Lip butter in Candly Apple
Revlon Colorburst in Blush
Blistex Medplus for lips

I'm thinking of getting a makeup bag since i'll be heading out straight from work more so maybe that will one day be a post.

Whats in your bag?

Saturday

Out with the old...

Today was my last day at my current work and i marked the occasion in the best way i know how.....

With a manicure :-)

This is Models Own Beach party, with a ring finger accent of Barry M Tangerine.

Really one Orange polish would have done but this combo was a bit more interesting and throughout the day i had a lot of lovely comments on it from both colleagues and customers.

The Models own polish itself is essentially Neon Orange, very vibrant and uplifting.

The Barry M one is darker with a bit of a shimmer. It reminds me of boiled sweets.

At the end of the day, it'll be sad to take this one off.
But soon a new manicure will be in order.....

Although I've changed where I'm working I've not left the company so over the next few weeks it may get a bit obvious where i work (depending on your level of brand knowledge) especially as there will be another huge change at the end of the month....

I'm not supposed to talk about where i work online but i can show you pretty polishes :-)

Fantasy Fire NOTD

This one has been around for a while now, and been in my collection since it first came out but it still makes me stare at my nails like a woman possessed.

When it first came out there was a huge amount of hype that it was a dupe for the fabled 'unicorn pee' (Clarins 230).

Having never seen that one in real life i don't really think i can comment on that, but at one point bottles of this we're flying around the interweb for silly prices.

What i definitely can tell you about is that its really like nothing else i own.

It is very sheer but the range of colours that shine from it is amazing, red, pink, green, blue, purple in a jelly base. I have used this as a topcoat and it does an incredible job at that. But as a special treat i think it's gorgeous on its own.

This is 3 coats, a 4th would have made it more opaque but i like the still slightly see through effect of 3. I took this shot in quite bright light to get some of the green to show, the effect under bog standard light is more that of the bottle shot above. But as i mentioned all the colours do make an appearance when you wiggle your nails around doing day to day things.

If you can get your hands on this i'd highly recommend it.

I'll be taking part in the #bbloggers bloghop again tomorrow so if your here from there HELLO!!
I'd love it if you subscribed, i always check out new followers blogs :-)

Thursday

TAG: I Heart Fall/Autumn

I had been thinking about doing a few tag style posts on here as i find it interesting to see the differences in peoples answers. Then i saw that Clare from makeroomforcupcake.blogspot.co.uk/ had done this one and i was inspired.

Now some of these things have been mentioned before on here as I'm not shy about proclaiming my love for this season but i thought it'd be nice to bring them all together.

1 Favourite Fall lip product?

I've got 2 for this as if i don't have one on i definitely have the other.

Mac Cunning. This was from the Fabulous Felines collection from a while back, Its only recently i rediscovered it, it looks scary in the tube but its a nice deep berry wine colour when applied.

And the other is Blistex Medplus lip balm. I don't think I'd make it through the bitter Scottish winter without this. I forgot to put it in my bag the other day and i swear my lips felt like they were about to explode by the time i walked home from work.

2 Favourite Fall Nail Polish?

I gave my thought on this one HERE

But it has to be German-icure by OPI

3 Favourite Starbucks Fall Drink?

I did a whole post about my love for Pumpkin Spice Latte HERE
LOVES IT!!

I did try a Salted Caramel Mocha the other day as well, most enjoyable.

(The RED CUPS are coming!!!!!!)

4 Favourite Fall Candle?

Another of the things that I've already waxed (sorry) lyrical about is my beloved Marshmallow Fireside from Slatkin/White Barn/Bath and Bodyworks. see that post HERE

My little one has all gone but I'm ordering the giant one from eBay the minute i wake up on payday. It's that good!

5 Favourite Fall Scarf or accessory?

Hedgehog Scarf from Primark.

I live in Scotland its pretty chilly round here so full on winter scarves are already being sported by many.

6 Haunted House, Haunted Hay Ride, or Haunted Corn Maze?

We don't really have the corn maze or Hay rides in the UK but i do LOVE a good Haunted House. If I'm totally honest i even love rubbish fairground haunted house. I find them freaking hilarious!!

7 Favourite Halloween Movie?

Everyone seems to be choosing Hocus Pocus for this one.

I don't have a favourite for this so I'll tell my Hocus Pocus story.

Hocus Pocus frightened me for a long time, yes really.

If i saw it was about to come on TV I'd have to change the channel immediately, and this was until quite recently.

Thing is, when i was little i watched a DVD of this movie and i don't know how this happened but in my head i had a completely warped version of them raising billy from his grave. It freaked me right out.

A few months ago i forced myself to watch it, the scene in my head didn't exist. I felt silly!

8 Favourite candy to eat on Halloween?

I don't know if it would be classified as 'Halloween Candy' but at the moment my favourite sweet treat is gingerbread. Nom nom nom!!

9 What are you dressing up as for Halloween?!

Well this year I'm going to a Onesie Party and I'm thinking of getting a new onesie for the occasion.

But my Favourite thing to dress up as is Wednesday Addams.

10 What is your Favourite thing about Fall?

It has to be crunchy leaves and the smell of a clear autumn evening, perfection :-)
