China Glaze: On Safari - Glitters

Sallys had a VAT free day.

It would've been rude not to buy something   :-)

By the time i got there they were out of OPI: Every month is Oktoberfest so that will be a quest for another day.

What they did have though were the glitters from the China Glaze On Safari Collection.

It seems like an eternity ago that i first saw swatches of these. And in real life they do not disappoint.

First up we have my favourite of the 2 I'm Not Lion. Light Golden with multicoloured micro-shimmer. The swatch pic was 3 coats taken in natural light. I've included the blurry shot to try and demonstrate the sparkle of the polish.

And this is I Herd That. Same micro shimmer idea although more a bronzey gold almost erring on the rose gold side in some lights.
Again 3 coats in natural light.
Excuse the random awkward hand shot the sun was just refusing to shine in the right direction so some interesting wrist bending was on the go!

Did you pick up anything from this collection?

Saturday

The most wonderful time of the year...

Oh how i love Autumn....

Let me count the ways....

1. Super cosy socks

I got these lovelies from trusty old Primark (2 pairs for £2!). They are ridiculously soft and soooo cosy. I hate waring shoes in the flat but when the weather turns the wooden floors really are to chilly to go without so cosy socks are lovely. The best thing about cosy socks is when you get in from a really cold walk, perhaps you've stepped in a puddle, and you get home and put on your fluffy socks.

Have I over thought this? Probably.

P.S Also extremely good for sliding on the floor pretending your a ninja :-)

2. Tea

Now I'm a consummate coffee drinker, I mean, seriously, I should just organise some kind of IV delivery system, but come Autumn I'm a cosy evening cuppa tea drinker.
My favourite is honey, chamomile and vanilla from Twinings.

(The Skeleton ginger bread man was from Sainsburys and was incredibly good)

The herbal stuff isn't everyones cup of tea (boom boom) but this is soothing and sweet enough to drink without adding 10 tonnes of sugar. Perfect for when the nights are drawing in.

3. Autumn Scents

This is the time of year i go crazy for home fragrance.
And i know its not just me that this happens to.
I'm pretty sure the wee lady over at the Yankee candle kiosk is paid year round from the profits between now and Christmas.

I picked up these wax tarts (they have a special burner thing which they melt in). I melted another sugared apple tart i had last night, i had my cosy socks on and a cup of tea. It was raining outside but I was in cosy heaven watching QI :-)

For when these aren't burning I picked up a lovely hand wash from bath and bodyshop.

It smells incredible, sweet and warm. If, like me, cinnamon gives you a sore head this is your perfect autumn scent.

I'm always devastated that we don't have easy access to Bath and Body works stuff here, but the little range on that site soothes me slightly. I just wish they didn't run out of stock on everything I want so quickly.

What do you love about Autumn?
Do you Americans find it amusing that we call it Autumn?
Or are you just blocking the whole thing out waiting for summer again?

Essie: Bikini so Teeny

So we've all seen this one a thousand times 'Bikini so Teeny'

Now I'll be honest i think i may have become a victim of hype on this one. I was in Boots, they only had 1 left, EVERYBODY and their granny loves it so obviously i had to buy it!

I'll not bore you with yet another same old in depth description..........

Its cornflower blue with sparkles

Now don't get me wrong here i think this colour is as pretty as everyone says it it is but my gripe with it is that as soon as you go near it with top coat it changes shade!

Without topcoat                                                                                           With topcoat

I don't know if its just me this is happened to because i haven't seen anyone else mention it but it does slightly ruin the polish for me. There's nothing wrong with the colour it goes with top coat but its just not quite as pretty as the one without. It also gives a kind of weird soft focus colour blurring effect to the nails. (As you can see on the tip of the ring finger below)

Now i originally tried it with Seche Vite so i thought it was maybe the topcoat at fault.
So I tried it with Sally Hansen Insta-Dry, same issue.

I then had the bright idea that maybe it had something to do with the fast drying aspect of these so i broke out my OPI regular old Top Coat and it STILL changed colour.

Now I know what your thinking, go without topcoat! I tried that, i have a very hands on job (ooo-err!) and it just didn't last 5 mins without chipping.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to overcome this?
Have i maybe got some kind of weird duff bottle?
Or has everyone else found it does this and just not mentioned?

In other news:

I'm back at work after a couple of weeks off. It's so confusing, almost feel like the new girl again.
Also it means I've been having to get up at what i would call the middle of the night. Thank the big man for coffee and Red bull!

Saturday

CB HQ

Ahh it feels good to be in front of the screen again.

Its been a while.

This desk is where my witterings about my life will now come from. I instagramed (link in the side bar) a pic of this a while ago now. Then my laptop broke. I've got it going again but its still quite ropey.

I'll address the elephant in the room first off..... as you can see my polish collection is looking healthy, some people would call it an obsession but everyone deserves their own little indulgence. Im going to endevour to put some posts up with swatches of my favourites. And yes, i had an awesome time organising them all.

I've been inspired recently to have my own little slice of the internet (as Louise would say) so im hoping that posts will be a bit more often and a bit more varied, it'll be fun to look back in a few years and see all the random bits of my life.

Life has been a bit changeable recently, as i suppose it should be :-)

I had a milestone birthday..............it took a while for me to get to grips with that.

I had an awesome party, I drank a little too much (hic!)

We ate an aweful lot of Costco cake, we named him George.

My lovely friend Kerry made some gluten free cupcakes to match the dinosaur theme (i especially like the nessie three cake series. One cake was the head one was the body and one the tail, bottom right on the stand, too cute!)

Work is a bit pants (read: complete nightmare) at the moment but that is really nearly on the verge of changing so im extremely excited about that. Hopefully i'll have more news on that soon.

If you would like to follow my rambling random posts there are a few links over on the sidebar there.
If not, thanks for stopping by =0)
