Friday

A little catch up...

Hey, how are you?!

First off i'd like to thank all you you that left me a comment or sent me a tweet about my last post.

The night out didn't really go as planned but i ended up having an absolutely awesome night with my friends so all was not lost. We had a few (too many) drinks and at the end of the night there was a pair of ear muffs, no one can quite remember where we picked them up from (i have a horrible feeling they were abandoned on the the street, ewww!) but we all had a shot at wearing them, which amused us immensely.

Sorry for the blurfest but, as i said, we'd had a drink or 7.

Blogmas obviously fell by the way side slightly but due to a bit of a hiccup at work and trying to fit in a teeny bit of Christmas pub going fun i ended up with no time. I did do a festive mani that i had meant to blog about so here's a wee pic here....

New Year was an interesting one, I headed to a local pub/club with one of my mates. There were drinks, there was dancing but thankfully because we'd stayed local there wasn't a 4 hour wait for a taxi home :-)

Did you make any new years resolutions? Are you managing to stick to them?

The only thing i resolved to do this year was pay off my credit cards, its not got off to a great start with me booking a holiday for later this year but i haven't left the country in literally years so i could really go some snoozing on a sun lounger on a beach. We're heading for Bulgaria (does that make anyone else instantly think of the wombles? showing my age a bit there). We're going to be staying at Helena Park in Sunny Beach...

I've never been before but the hotel has good reviews, its all inclusive and i'll be there for my birthday so i'm super excited. Absolutely cant wait to do a 'holiday haul', i have a bit of an obsession with those miniature toiletries......

Have you ever been to Bulgaria? Do you have any tips for places to go/things to do?

I'll hopefully have a new review up on sunday, i picked up some MUA fur effects recently so i'm keen to have a go.

Is there any other new products you think i should check out? Leave a comment below or send me a tweet(link in the sidebar) and i'll check them out.

Fat Girl Slim Week 2 Update

Another week has gone by and its that scary stand on the scales time again.

I would like to point out that my scales are currently running out of battery (they're digital) so I'm not overly sure how accurate they are just now.

The week started well.

I did the 30 day shred (aka being curled up in the foetal position gasping for breath)

For a few days.

I couldn't move after a few days in, my thighs wouldn't co-operate with the command to move my legs in a walking motion.

So i switched to a bit of yoga (Penny Smith Power Yoga) to try and stretch out a bit.

The warm up almost killed me. I used to do the entirety of this DVD everyday (i was bendy like Geri) so this was really disappointed in this.

I'll confess, i ate A LOT of cake and pizza at the end of the week (while sat on the couch with a hot water bottle). But as a woman, I'm sure you'll understand, sometimes we NEED this.

Despite this the scales were kind and I stayed the same as last week.

So I'm still 2 pounds down 22 to go!

The next couple of weeks are going to be quite stressful for me. I started my new job today and I'm now be getting a bus to work rather than walking so I'm not overly hopeful on the weight loss front.

Lunch is about to get a whole lot healthier!

But i do have better options for things to have for lunch and I'll be powering up my My Fitness Pal App again so hopefully I'll work it out.

Be sure to follow to get my updates straight to your blog feed.x (links in the side bar)

Fat Girl Slim Week 2 Update

So as you've probably gathered I've tasted a bit of the jet set lifestyle this week.

Well, OK, it was a one day jolly to Birmingham, but it meant i HAD to have the giant Starbucks when i got to the airport (with whipped cream), eat a giant bag of fruit pastels on the plane, have copious amounts of beer in the executive lounge, which obiously then led to hitting the bar when i got back and the inevitable take-away on the way home.

And I've had more than my fair share of Mcdonalds breakfasts this week.

I think my new approach to this will be everything in moderation (says me while munching a slice of cheesecake)

I don't have the will power to cut out all the yummy things and munch on celery.

So i'm gong to have a go at the doing more exercise thing. So in a happy coincidence i stumbled across a tweet from Charlotte (from www.charlottesobsessions.com) about looking for some moral support on an attempt to do the infamous 30 day shred, so i'll be giving that a bash, wish me luck and don't forget to check out Charlottes blog.

So without any further ado week 2 update.... I've lost 2 lbs!

Slow and steady wins the race ;-)

2 lbs down 22 to go!

These are the brownies i mentioned yesterday. They seemed to go down well with the folk from work :-)

Interesting fact of the day: I like chocolate, I LOVE cake. but i really really don't like chocolate cake!

Fat Girl Slim: Week 1 Update

So first off so far i have managed to blog everyday in October, go me!

I find its always best to start on a positive note...now onto the update.

Well....

you see....

the thing is.....

I didn't lose anything this week. I didn't gain anything either so i suppose that's a win in a way.

(grasping at straws here people!).

I'm going to blame my very confusing week that involved running about not really knowing whether I'm going or going half the time.

Its probably more to do with the fact that i ate alot of pizza, had to many sweets and drank to much gin.

But i'm getting my game face on for this week, not just on the healthy eating front but i've got a huge few weeks coming up at work and i've a few other plans which are hopefully coming together soon as well.

Exciting times lay ahead! :-)

If you would like to join me on this journey make sure you follow for my updates.

And if you have any tips on not casually munching on the giant bag of maltesers that floats around the office please let me know in a comment below!

0 lbs down 24 to go!

If only this apple tasted like cake......

Fat Girl Slim

Now before I get into this I would like to say i have absolutely no knowledge of nutrition or the medical implications of losing weight. Please see a qualified professional if you are thinking of losing weight.

Nor would i say I'm actually fat, I'm just a sucker for a catchy title.

OK?......then onward we go.

I was reading a post over at missbudgetbeauty and was inspired by what i read.

For quite a while now I've been feeling somewhat out of sorts when it comes to my weight. As I mentioned I'm not what i call fat (though others may have their own opinions on this) but I'm a good 14 and as someone who has spent the majority of my life hovering about the 10 mark this feels big to me.

I'll be honest I don't eat well. I like a wee Mcdonalds breakfast, I'm fond of a cake with my meal deal at lunch and I'm almost on the Dominos delivery drivers Christmas card list.

The only saving grace i have at the moment is that i walk to and from work.

But that is about to change. The bus to my new work place goes near enough door to door. Something will have to give before my jeans button does.

There is an important social event coming up at the end of October and I'm a bridesmaid at a dear friends wedding next June.

Both of these things require photos being taken......
I'm determined that my bingo wings will not feature in them.

I used the app My Fitness Pal before and managed to lose 7 lbs relatively easily.

The app is basically a calorie counter (and FREE!), you put in a few stats, height, weight and age and it works out how many calories you should be eating.
Now instead of being a rigid number you can 'earn' extra calories by doing more exercise. Its really really motivating. You can even add friends to the app to keep each other going.
I think the thing i like most about it is that i have a free app on my phone which means I can keep track of things on the go and i can just scan the barcode of whatever I'm eating there and then.

And as an extra boost, as you finish each day it estimates what you'll weigh in 5 weeks time if you continue as you are (really accurately as it turns out)

So i think I'll go back on the wagon...

So in the spirit of publicly declaring my commitment Monday night will be weigh in night:

I'm currently  159lbs and i want to be 135lbs    24lbs to go!!

Though since I've just been invited to the two for Tuesdays at my friends I'm not sure how this will go :-s

Who's with me?!
