Glossybox November 2011

I got my glossybox in the post this morning.
Happy days!
It's only the second box I've had from them but I love the concept of getting a special parcel full of surprise things every month :-)

As I only got it today this is an open box post ..... Here we go!

First off the packaging as usual is really pretty. I'm gonna hoard these boxes like there is no tomorrow. Simple black and pink.

Onto the products:
First off there is a jolly good bag of DEAD SEA SPA MAGIK bath salts. I'm happy about this as I've been considering getting this stuff for a while. Apparently a 2011 Beauty Awards winner it claims to alleviate dry skin (me!) and improve skin texture. Now I have high hopes for this as my skin has been playing up recently as a loooong time ago I was lucky enough to take a dip in the actual dead sea and my skin was lovely afterwards.
(word of warning ladies, if this stuff is like the actual thing it stings your bits, TMI I know, but forewarned is forearmed!)

Next up

Arbonne FC5 cooling foot creme
This in theory should be perfect for me as I have a job that means I'm on my feet all day. Looking forward to trying this later!

Monu skin perfector
A weightless cream which instantly smoothed imperfections and enhances natural radiance. Again liking the sound of this. And on the back it says it's paraben free and provides an excellent base for makeup. Hopefully this can replace the Mac primer that my skin took a funny reaction to.

There's a couple of perfume samples.
Personally I like the idea of perfume samples, especially when they are little spray ones like these, perfect for throwing in your bag and much less likely to leak than the wee ones with the stupid lids that you pull off, I get those everywhere. To be honest these scents aren't something I would buy but they are fine for if I'm in a pinch.
Both are by Serge Lutens:
L'eau serge Lutens- in my opinion is the nicer of the two kind of a clean floral smell. Reminds me of weddings...

Vitriol d'oeillet - quite strong quite incense like. Reminds me of grown ups heading out to the opera.

As you might have noticed describing scent is not my strong point.

And finally the best thing...
Nail Rock designer nail wraps
Mine are leopard print (see previous post about my love of leopard nails) now I may be wrong but I have a feeling that the glossybox already did nail wraps not long ago so it seems quite random to have more this month, not that I'm complaining I missed that box so I'm glad to have the opportunity to try these.

All in I'm quite happy with my box, I'll keep it on for now. Next month is going to be a special Christmas gift box, so i have high hopes for it. I've also subscribed for the feel unique beauty box so I'll see how it compares when I get my first one of that.

What's your favourite from the box?

Feel free to say hello in the comments, I'm still new at this so if you've got any hints and tips or ideas for what you want to see on here let me know!

Revlon: Facets of Fushia

It took 3 trips to 3 separate Boots stores and 1 awkward conversation with my boss but I got it!

Revlon Facets Of Fuchsia

I've been eyeing this baby on other sites for a while now and quickly became somewhat obsessed.
Out of the many, and I mean MANY polishes I have I've never once actually purchased a Revlon one. I have no idea why, I guess it's just one of those things!
Anyhoo, the kindly folk at boots had sent me some advantage card vouchers one of which was a £3 off Revlon...SCORE! It was like a sign from a higher power ;-)
So I made it my mission to find this precious polish. I should explain that the reason I flipped quite so badly for this one is that my favourite colour is Fuchsia (I have on several occasions turned my hair this colour, but thats another story entirely). My favourite non-colour is black, and well I believe that glitter is what powers the universe -:)
I traveled far and wide and even boarded a BUS,which round my way is basically the bravest thing you can do. But in the end it took and awkward conversation with the boss to explain why I had requested to go home early that got me it.
Imagine the scene: it was cold, it was raining, in the distance there are the bright lights of the last boots in town, the young adventurer (who'd manage to leave her brolly at home) was soaked but battled on. Finally she reached the sacred place. The doors were closing, but she managed to squeeze in just in time.
The search began.
The was a special stand with the new collection, but no precious, the fear set in.
To the main display! The tannoy is politely is telling everyone to leave...
She turns the corner, there's an empty display :-( she looks at the rest of the polish crestfallen.
Then...
No...
Surely my eyes deceive!...
Behind a regular bottle she sees a twinkle....its been found...the quest is complete!
Melodramatic, yes. But sometimes the occasion calls for it don't you think?

Until next time.

The picture is two coats of Facets of Fuchsia with seche vote topcoat. This us really one you need to experience in real life. It's SO beautiful.

Wednesday

Arrrghh...

This is a photo of some random condensation rings.
Hey, we were in the pub and it was funny at the time :-)
I think it looks like a cute pirate.

What do you think?

OPI: Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

I was rummaging through my collection the other day and came across a polish I haven't actually used yet. Oh the shame!
Obviously I had to remedy this as soon as possible.
Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous by opi.
It looked so pretty in the bottle. Dark graphite grey sparkling silver. With the prettiest slight almost multicolour micro shimmer. This multicolour aspect sadly didn't translate to well to the nail but is just about detectable if you hold it up to the light.
I believe this colour was from the Swiss collection from 2010 however since it was in the regular display at my Sallys I presume it's still widely available.

17: Magenetized Nail Polish

Today I got my first magnetic nail polish.

I've been lusting after the CND and nails inc versions but they are a little in the pricey side for me.
So cue my squeal of delight (yes, I squealed) as I strolled into boots and saw a cheapo 17 version.
I promptly paid my 5.99 and skipped home smug as can be :-)

So I settled down and got going.

This stuff is seriously awkward.

I kept holding the magnet to far away or keeping it close but the polish lifting up to attach itself to the magnet.

I have to say that I wasnt overly keen on the wavy design of the magnet but the finished effect kind of reminds me of the marbles I used to play with as a kid so I'll live.

Anyway the picture is a third attempt on my 'good' hand.

P.s in my Boots these weren't at the 17 display but on a stand of their own at the front of the store. From what I could see there were also green, red and silver shades.

Wednesday

Pink Wednesday

Thought i'd join in with the whole pink wednesdays thing.

I wish i could tell you more about this colour but it was an unlabelled bottle of opi i got in a swap from Makeup Alley. So if anyone has any ideas of what it might be please let me know because its a nice shade and i'm nearly out :-(

Anyway i must run,

Tuesday

The morning after the night before,

This picture is just one of those things that make me happy.

I'd come stumbling out my house a little, er, 'worse for wear' one morning running late for my bus but the sheer randomness of this laying in the car park made my day/month/year.

I don't know what eventually happened to jolly man. But even now the idea of the presumably drunken thought process behind it makes me smile :-)

Anyone else had an encounter with the bizarre on your doorstep?

Lady and the Tramp

So post number 2, that sounds wrong somehow...

Anywho this is a rather inexpertly (hey, I'm new!) taken picture of some ridiculously trampy nail wraps i picked up at Sallys a while back.

They're the most lovely combination of shiny gold foil and leopard print, i mean whats not to love?!!

Now they may have took me an eternity to put on and they started peeling after a day but that day was the most glorious day of my nail life so far. It was worth it for the totally confused looks on my friends faces.

I'm sure applied by the proper hands these would've looked pristine for ages, and I'll be going on that minx course as soon as my training allows, but for the odd occasion where i have the time and patience these will definitely be making a return.

Am i alone in the love of these?
