Get your dupe on!! (Giveaway closed)

Erm... following on from my frustrated post earlier, i decided on a bit of retail therapy on the way home... i know, i know, i suck!

But its lucky for you guys that i do because i picked up a few things for a little give away :-)

I took a browse around Superdrug yesterday (to supposedly avoid temptation lol!) and i noticed that the high street is dupe-tastic at the moment, with good old MUA leading the way! Also the new lip stains from l'oreal have started to appear in stores so i've decided  to run with that theme...

Sunday

MUA Fur Effects Fluff & Cuddles

After my previous foray into the weird and wonderful world of textured nails with the MUA Nail Constellations. I was excited to see the Fur Effects range launched.

I bought mine online straight from the MUA website and i was most impressed i chose standard shipping and my product was with me near enough the next day.

The little tub essentially contains coloured fluff and the instructions say to apply it over your favourite MUA polish. I don't have an MUA polish in a colour similar enough so i dug out my OPI Louvre me, Louvre me not, which although not the exact color i felt it gave a good base for the raspberry coloured fluff.

Now the idea is the you paint a couple of coats of polish on and the shake the fluff through the sifter inside onto your nails.

For the life of me i could not get the stuff to come through the sifter so i took the second option of application which was to remove if the sifter and roll my nails directly in the fluff. I would recommed, er, fluffing up , the fluff before doing this. Once you've got the fluff on give it a minute or so before gently using a small fluffy brush to brush of the excess back into the tub.

The finished effect, as you can see in the picture below, is what i'd call "interesting" it reminds me alot of the fuzzy felt i used to play with as a kid. Its also a bit on the clumpy side for my liking, but i reckon a bit more fluffing (i'm sorry that just sounds wrong!!) before application would sort that and i think next time i give this a try i'd leave a bit more time before brushing off the excess as i seem to have left my poor old pinkie with a
slight bald patch.

As for how this wore throughout the day, well, it actually held up quite well, even through washing my hands, obviously i took a bit more care than usually but they dried after a minute or so. I wouldn't want to do anything too challenging with my hands while wearing this but i do think it makes a nice novelty nail for those times where i'm in the mood for something different.

Have you tried the Fur effects? How did you get on?

MUA Nail Constellation Gemini NOTD

Today i bought a nail product instead of food with my lunch money*

Don't worry i still ate, though it was just some super noodles from the back of the communal cupboard at work rather than a nice sandwich from M&S.

Anyway, i digress, i was in Superdrug and they actually had the Nail Constellations in stock. I didn't waste any time and immediately picked one up and headed to the till. I did this so quickly i didn't actually register what colour I'd picked up until i got back to work.

I got Gemini

I've paired it here with The World is Not Enough from the James Bond Skyfall OPI collection (I'm having a bit of an affair with this shade at the moment). The micro shimmers actually match the combination of colours of the Constellation nicer than what the pictures show.

Those shades I'm on about are light pink/champagne/pink/green. The little balls are actually a heck of a lot smaller than i thought they would be. Even since the first time i saw pictures of the Ciate version i just thought they'd be....bigger. Do you know what i mean?

I really love the finished effect this gave, and while i don't have hugely high hopes for this making it through a day at my work it is an interesting enough look for me to go to the effort of applying it

This stuff requires a either a sturdy surface and a piece of folded paper (what i used) or I've since seen a video of someone using a small bowl to catch the excess, genius. Putting them back in is relatively simple, just pop off the top (carefully!) and put it in upside down (as above pic) and it acts as a funnel.

Funnel is a funny word....funnel.....hee hee :-)

Whats your favourite funny word?

*am an adult, its a budgeting thing!
